Kaitlin C. Burke
Originally from the small city of Corning, New York, Kaitlin “Kate” Burke graduated cum laude from Keuka College in 2017, where she earned a B.A. in Political Science and History. She later moved south and is a 2020 graduate of the Charleston School of Law. During her time in law school, Kate was an active member of the Women in Law and Intellectual Property Societies, as well as working for Corning Incorporated in their Intellectual Property Department.
Upon admission to the South Carolina bar in the fall of 2021, Ms. Burke joined a Lowcountry family law practice where she honed her skills in areas of contested divorce, child custody, child support, and post-decree modification actions. During this time, she discovered that her true passion is helping others in need in the most difficult time of their lives.
Ms. Burke enjoys the diversity of family law, the uniqueness of each family dynamic, and the ability to use her skills to help families transition. Having witnessed childhood friends who were victims of divorce, Ms. Burke has observed the impact of alcoholism and mental health issues on families. She understands the needs of a broken family and uses that information and her prior observations to help clients make good decisions for themselves and their children.
Ms. Burke grew up in a well-grounded and loving family. Therefore, she enjoys creating families through adoption and providing legal, emotional, and physical stability for children and their adoptive parents.
Ms. Burke joined Brinkley Law Firm in June of 2023 and will assist in family-building services such as adoption and parentage orders, as well as continue to assist families transitioning through divorce.
In her spare time, Ms. Burke enjoys the outdoors. You can often find her at the beach, golfing, or with her family and friends.
