Ellen H. Babb

Ellen H. Babb brings more than 20 years of experience representing clients in some of the most challenging and high-stakes legal matters, including DSS defense, family law, and personal injury. Her career has been dedicated to advocating for individuals and families navigating complex, emotionally charged situations, where careful strategy, ethical judgment, and clear communication matter most.

After more than two decades founding and leading Babb Law Firm, Ellen joins Brinkley Law Firm to focus fully on practicing law and client advocacy. Ellen is a Certified Family Court Mediator and Private Guardian ad Litem, with deep experience handling DSS defense matters and cases involving vulnerable and at-risk individuals. Clients value her thorough preparation, sharp legal analysis, and practical problem-solving approach, while colleagues respect her professionalism, leadership, and commitment to ethical practice.

Ellen earned her Juris Doctor from the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in 2002, where she received an Advanced Legal Research, Drafting, and Writing Certificate and competed on the ABA Negotiation Team. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Furman University and studied abroad at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China. She has also worked with the American Bar Association on best practices related to child welfare and family justice.

Beyond her legal practice, Ellen has a longstanding commitment to service and leadership in the Charleston and South Carolina communities, including extensive involvement with the South Carolina Bar, the Junior League of Charleston, the South Carolina Women’s Law Association, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
